now making its usual spring advance. It may be an anemic advance but at least the down-draft seems to have s t o p p e d. I don't know why Monday's kill was so weak, but it is now coming back and the scheduled numbers are quite strong. The declining 6-day moving average carcass weights and the kill rate higher than projected from the last H&P report suggests to me that producers are now in the liquidation phase with their market hogs. I don't know how long it will last or high the kill rate will go. If we can believe the last H&P report some relief may surface when the June to August farrowings start coming to market unless the pigs per litter takes another move higher.
