As we know hogs are very susceptible to disease. It is not far from the Dom. Rep. to Puerto Rico. If it hits there all our pork exports will stop for at least 90 days. Futures would probably go limit down for at least 3 days which is why the merc extended the limits awhile back, I would guess,
Today has been one of my busiest days for some time, maybe ever! I closed my option trade with an excellent profit, closed my cattle trade with a decent profit, and got out of my bean oil with a good profit! I still have the soybeans, but did manage to sell some more close to top today. If I could just breakeven on the beans it would seem like a victory!
Tomorrow and next week I will be trying to buy some more calls in the hogs. Monday is last day on Feb and I think April is a little high in comparison to Feb. going off board. I also think June will go to at least 125.00, barring ASF!! This is why I decided if I was going to trade hogs from the long side I must use options! We shall see, time will tell.
Sure good to hear from you DH,
Dewey
