Looking at the inflated prices of hog puts, - -

it just might be that there are a lot of producers that are also anxious about ASF. Considering the impact it would have, not just on producers, but the overall economy, there is very good reason to be cautious especially with it already being in the Dominican Republic. I am of the impression that the kill rate is lagging a little behind what the data would have suggested. Perhaps some producers have scaled back just a bit because of the ASF risk.

It appears that the USDA is being very aggressive in policing potential threats. Hopefully their efforts will continue to be successful but there is no guarantee.

Good to hear that you were able to cash in half of your hog calls. There may be room for those you have left to advance a bit more if the ASF stays away.
