Re: DH, last week you made a comment----

about the differences between hedging and spec trading. If you want to scramble your brain and make a lot of traders mad at you in the process------do what I'm doing. Some days I'm not sure which side of my brain is running the show-----each trading approach, hedge or spec, has its own set of guidelines that need to be followed and a thin line separates the different reasons for making the choices to pull the trigger and which trigger to pull. The hedger has the advantage because he can justify giving the market more room to go against him but the disadvantage for the hedger-----he only has 1 reason to enter the market. The spec trader doesn't care which direction the market takes-----his only concern is that he is on the correct train and only has to determine when its time to change trains.

I have so many guys get upset with me when they have a short on and I send out a message that we have a buy signal or that I'm saying to get long and same story if they are long and I say its time to get short. I have a hard time making them understand that in an hour or the next day I may have the opposite position. I spend way to much time trying to educate guys on the finer aspects and trickery of trading. A few get it, after some lectures, schooling and observation time but most don't.
