This is turning out to be a brutal - - -

hog market, Dewey. And it may get worse with what may turn out to be an over-supply of heavy hogs and slowing export demand. I have tended to think that packers have more and better information than the rest of us but it just might be that packers ramped up production more than the non-packers and they now have barns full of heavier hogs that they are trying to work through. It appears that Samuel Brenner had it right in 1876 when he first identified the hog cycle and now we are looking for the trough in hog prices for this cycle that may usher in the liquidation phase.

The kill this week is starting out very weak. Have you heard if there is a plant down or something other than a slow Monday following Easter Sunday??

Best wishes,
