Re: In the last nine days the component has droppe

Hello DH and Thanks for all your stats!

I mentioned on my last post I hadn't seen any evidence of slaughter dropping off, but it could be changing a little. I am going to post some of what an analyst just sent me in an e-mail.

The Saturday kill this week will be down over 50000 from last week yet margins remain fully intact if not better than last week. In other words, the lower kill is not the function of eroding margins. In conclusion, it must be the result of fewer hogs. Certainly this is not a bold statement as butcher supplies should begin to taper off at this time of year. Meat demand is outstanding. Monthly pork exports have exceeded 10% of the previous year for four consecutive months. Such dramatic changes are unheard of. As supplies and production drops off, look for impressive rallies in cash, cutout and futures.

This is just one person's opinion--I would be very elated if he would be correct as I am carrying several tons of pork now in the June contract!! I plan on keeping them until June and may add some Dec later on down the way.

A good weekend to all

Dewey
