The CME Lean Hog Index component on the kill for -

10/13/16 was down -0.33 to 52.38. That represents 50% of the cash settlement Index. It looks like I may be left with one long VVV pig to go to cash settlement. But it is not going to be a big deal. The model really did a fine job helping me with my trading leading up to the VVVs going to cash settlement. Ittold me to get long when my head was swirling with doubts and muddled thinking so I just did what it said. And the model did not lead me astray! We are now too far from the ZZZs going to cash settlement for it to do me much good yet, but Dewey says get short so I sold a couple of ZZZs this morning. So far so good.

Thanks, Dewey!

The six-day moving average carcass weight moved up to 211.16#. That is only -0.13 yr/yr. Last year they were finishing hogs to heavier weight to meet demand. Maybe this year the weights are moving up because packers can't kill the hogs fast enough.

Best wishes,

dhm
