Re: I don't know what's going on-----

but I sure like it as long as June hogs stay above 74.00. I've have 4 short June cattle between 153.00-154.40 but only 2 long June hogs 72.50 and 73.50. All of the negative hog thoughts from everywhere made me very reluctant to add more at the next up step support @ 74.50. Nothing would make me happier than to see June hogs quickly shoot to my next target @ 79.00 and June cattle fall back to 147.00 at the same time. Two cattle/hog spreads are a plenty to carry when it generally turns into watching the paint dry if I can keep my conviction for a $20 narrowing process.

The excess short June cattle or any more long June hogs will be treated independently for whatever profit I can get away with. It's always a challenge for me to hold these spreads long enough for the paint drying target. Generally frustration and lack of patience leaves me with half of my desired and usually accurate target goal. There have been some years that the narrowing process is astonishing. Every year, one of my New Years resolutions is to ride the paint drying process to target for this cattle/hog spread and every year it's another failure. I do always get the consolation prize of 20-50% of my target goal. Maybe this year I will be successful in watching the paint dry. Even the consolation prize is worth the effort involved in this paint drying challenge.
