The 6-day moving average carcass weight - - -

was a little firm this morning @ 213.38#. That +9.76# yr/yr. Packer hogs gained in weight a little more than non-packer hogs. The percentage of packer hogs in the kill-mix was down at 31.8% on a five-day moving average basis. It usually runs about one third. I believe packers have pulled their hogs forward in order to meet their kill needs.

According to the USDA, packers did not make a very strong purchase yesterday. In fact it was one of the lower seen lately and that lower purchase number comes in spite of the fact that packers were bidding firm yesterday. No indication that the index is going to break just yet.

I am now trying to replace the QQQs I scaled out of this morning.

Best wishes,
