shows that packers have 2.8 million hogs scheduled. That is 16.84% more than they had scheduled on this date last year. Either produces have a lot more hogs than we heretofore thought or else producers are anxious sellers in the face of declining hog prices.

Maybe a little of both.

There is definitely NOT anything here to suggest that the supply of hogs is going to be tight.

The product is moving well enough to give packers a decent margin so they may be willing to share a little with producers and keep their bids a bit firm.
