Hogs by Dennis Smith

Cash hog prices, yesterday, turned sharply higher out west with the late report confirming that prices paid were up $1.50 to $2.00. Cash trade remained soft to lower in the east but the changing tone of the cash has
gotten the attention of futures traders. In addition, the product appears ready to perform with the cutout up $1.13 yesterday. The pork cutout has been steady to higher for four consecutive days. Hog futures have recently declined to 2 ½ year lows but there's growing evidence that the market appears ready to reject these levels, at least for now. Hams appear to be attracting export demand. They're trading at 81 cents, having been as low as 64 cents just over a week ago. Bellies have also firmed up nicely. We were buyers of Feb hog calls yesterday, a low risk spec play on the market.

Good morning to all, I haven't posted lately as I have been busy with a lot of other things. Yesterday I did manage to buy some april and reduce the number of Feb I am holding. 2015 is not starting out very good for me but hopefully it will end better than it has started.
