The six-day moving average carcass weight - - -

moved up to 215.67# today. That is +2.73# yr/yr. It was mostly the packer hogs that were heavier and the percentage of packer hogs in the kill continues to be at a high level. If there is some expansion going on in hogs, packers may be on the leading edge of it. There is good reason to suspect expansion since profits have been good for quite a while now.

The number of hogs scheduled for delivery is down from last week. That is no surprise with Christmas just around the corner. It was unexpected that there would be about 1% more than the same week last year. Hog numbers seem to be quite good.
