The CME component on the kill for - - -

12/16/14 was down 0.54 to 85.67. The "Gap" between the Index and the GGGs has now closed to -5.60. This morning I felt that the limit down move on the GGGs was a little much and most likely some "Sympathy" brought on by the weakness in the cattle. It looks like that is the way it turned out. I hope you bought enough of the JJJs to do you some good, Dewey.

The six-day moving average carcass weight slipped to 215.50# today. That is +2.50# yr/yr. Nothing in these weights to suggest that producers are falling behind in their shipments. Packer hogs seem to be making up a larger than usual percentage of the kill and the weight of the packer hogs is falling a bit more than the weight of the non-packer hogs. I'm not sure what to make of this. This is not the time of the year when we generally see the Index collapse further so I don't think they are trying to beat the down-hill rush.

Earlier in the year I thought they had greater PED virus losses. Maybe they have solved and this has resulted in a few more packer hogs coming to market.

Best wishes,
