Hogs by Dennis

The Goldman, I believe, moves into the third day today. Friday’s volume was 77,700 with open interest not doing much, down 230. Trump continues to keep everyone off balance with the latest statement Friday that he’s not in favor of rolling back tariffs. Somehow, someway, the Chinese will lift their tariff on U.S. pork because they need the pork. The Chinese have opened the door to protein imports from hog innards from Brazil, to poultry from the U.S. They’re buying beef trimmings in huge quantities from New Zealand and Australia which, in turn, is driving the U.S. beef cutout higher. It’s a crazy scramble for any kind of meat protein. U.S. pork prices are cheap and this market will not be ignored much longer. It’s my well documented opinion that hog futures are ready to go, ready to launch a move upward. Recommend to position accordingly. Today’s kill will be light with three plants down and rough weather in the hog belt. Mixed to higher is my call.
