Re: The afternoon Purchase Index for - - -

DH I received the following text from Dennis just now -

Cash is called mostly higher as packers are looking for hogs. Some packers still need hogs to round out this week’s kill and it appears all packers are actively looking for hogs for next week. Futures are swinging wildly but I’m focused on the May/Jun bull spread. This spread appears headed toward the highs from early April. If the bull spread is good, the cash is good. If the cash is good, demand for pork is good. Try to keep it as simple as possible. The action is full of head fakes.

Hams are solid and poised to move higher. Bellies and trim are tight in supply and should also crank higher. This week the retail pork is also looking better especially loins which have been the weak sister all spring.
