Good morning DH, again, good to have you back with your thoughts & stats! Following is part of an e-mail I received from Dennis this morning. I post a lot of his comments as he has been working in the Ag business most of his life. This could be the start of the market reflecting ASF in China in a big way! As usual time will tell!

There’s been an explosion higher in lean hog futures with the Feb and Apr seemingly attempting to change their chart pattern in one fell swoop. Both contracts have blasted through resistance defined by their 40-day MA. Will they hold? Most likely, yes, IMO. China announced a new case of ASF in Sichuan province which is the first case in this province. Sichuan province is the largest pork producing province in China. Another case was also reported in Yunnan province and for the first time a case has been detected in a wild boar in China. This is a big problem in that I’m told there’s over 30 million wild pigs in China. How do you control this? It also vastly increases the likelihood that it will eventually spread to neighboring countries.
