The CME Lean Hog Index component on the kill for -

9/11/18 was up +1.0 to 49.00. The VVVs are now trading premium to the component by 6.78. The model calculates that it will take an average daily gain of +0.30 in the component to close that "Gap".

The 6-day moving average carcass weight eased to 208.89#. That is -1.96# year/year. Index hogs were also a bit lighter at 208.30#. Perhaps packers are getting caught up on the mild backlog created by labor day.

The percentage of packer hogs in the kill mix seems to be suggesting that packers have expanded their production and packer hogs are running +0.95# heavier than the non-packer hogs.

There was a mild spike in te QQQs so I sold one and now need to buy it back on a dip. I am not yet ready to deplete my inventory. I think there is a great chance that we are going to see a nice move up in the summer futures even though they are nearly ten points higher than they were when I first bought and started HODLing.

Ka!! Ching!! Hurried to the bank with profits from a long Q/V spread. Still have quite a few more and room on my boat for more if the dip quite a bit.

Best wishes,

dhm..
