The CME Lean Hog Index component on the kill for -

9/10/18 was UP +0.58 to 47.93. The VVVs are now trading premium to the component by 7.89. The model now calculates that the component will need to jump by +0.345 per day for the next 23-days to close that "Gap". That is not insignificant gains for this time of the year but a little boost from the Florence and some ASF in China and it could do the job I suppose.

The 6-day moving average carcass weight was unchanged at 209.25#. That is -1.73# yr/yr. Packer hogs are now heavier than non-packer hogs by +1.04# and packers are continuing to ship a larger percentage of hogs than they have shipped long term. Could it be that packers have expanded production a little more than the non-packers? Index hogs are a bit lighter at 208.75#.

The MMMs rallied and generated my profit target on all four of the longs I piled on my boat this morning. Am now waiting for a dip to re-load.

Best wishes,

dhm
