The swine scheduled for delivery report - - -

shows that packers have 40K more hogs scheduled for the next 7-days than they had on this date last week. Relative to this date last year, they have 95K more hogs scheduled. That's 4.2% more. According to the last H&P report, it shouldn't be that way. A more appropriate number would be 3% to 4% fewer.

This tells me that producers are highly motivated sellers right now and it is causing the carcass weights to decline relative to last year.

It is possible that hogs will be pulled forward a little too much and producers will be caught short on hogs and packers will have to start chasing them. It all depends on the extent of the PED virus losses and we may not know until the fat girl sings.

Best wishes,
