The six-day moving average carcass weight - - -

firmed to 214.78#. That is +4.50# yr/yr. The weight of packer hogs was down a little and all of the gains in weight came from non-packers hogs.

The percentage of hogs killed that were packer hogs was a bit lower than normal. I continue to think packers lost more piglets than the non-packers.

Producers may be liquidating a bunch of heavies as they see the price collapsing. This is not the time of the year to be holding out for higher prices, me thinks. After this liquidation of heavies runs its course and the kill starts to turn down, then it might be a good idea for producers to drag their feet in shipping hogs.

I went flat the ZZZs this morning and it looks like I would have been better off to have turned-off my computer and taken a lunch break.

Best wishes,
