The six-day moving average carcass weight - - -

is at down at 214.67# this morning. That is only +4.71# yr/yr. From this I am concluding that producers are moving hogs to market at an above average clip. It is both packer and non-packer hogs that are getting lighter.

The five-day moving average percentage of packer hogs kill is now down at 31.3%. It usually runs around 32.5%. I continue to have this feeling that packers suffered greater piglet losses from the PED virus than non-packers.

Scalping it good this morning but it doesn't take much to make me happy. If I can get enough to buy a "Big Orange", I'm good.
