That's really a good question, Andrea, and I - -

I have never thought about it. In order to get a feel for what the CME Lean Hog Index might do, each day I gather data from 15 reports that the USDA publishes. Some days there are also week or monthly reports to look over. Once each quarter there is the BIGGIE, the quarterly Hogs and Pigs Report. After I gather the data, I usually spend some time trying to figure out what it all means in regard to the supply and demand dynamics in the hog market. I suppose it would add up to two or three hours a day but it is broken up into a few minutes here and a few minutes there.

Perhaps I should start clocking my time and I !would if I were an attorney!

I suppose you know that the hog market is opened from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM cst. During that time I am quite focused on the hog market although I do take a short break from time to time depending on how the market is treating me. I was plenty happy when the CME discontinued over night trading of hogs.

Thanks for your post, Andrea, and welcome to the forum.

Best wishes,

dhm
