This game of tag between futures and cash has been played all year, with futures going $10 below cash or $10 above cash when the new front month is a couple weeks away from becoming front month. Then cash goes on a mad dash to try and tag up with futures. When/if it tags up at the next change of front month or the one following------then futures will reverse directions and have a $4-5 head start on cash as the new front month takes over and taunting cash to "Catch Me if You Can". Then the chase is on for cash to tag up when the new contract goes into expiration.

It looks like the game continues, that's why none of this makes any sense and doesn't have to. It's only a game and like all games, the children will get tired of it and find a new game(pocket picking money maker) to play.
