The CME Lean Hog Index component on the kill for -

9/25/17 was down -0.57 to 56.63. The VVVs are trading discount to the component by -1.05. A "Gap" like that doesn't mean much when volatility is high like it is now. The component as now been down for 29 consecutive days and the average drop has been 92.6 cents per day. That's a serious plunge!

The six-day moving average carcass weight dropped to 210.84#. That is +1.13# yr/yr. Index hogs dropped quite a bit to 209.89#. Packer hogs were heavier by 1/5# and non-packer hogs were lighter by -1/2#

I foolishly took some small profits on a few of the short VVVs I had accumulated. Oh, well! I still have a more-than-usual load left. If we get a technical/emotional rally, I now have a little room on my boat to take on some more short VVVs.

Best wishes,

dhm
