The CME Lean Hog Index component on the kill for -

9/14/17 dipped by -0.99 to 63.58. That amount of down movement was within the range of what the model projected and the "Gap" has closed to -3.58 with the VVVs being discount to the component. In the last 22-days the component has lost an average of -90.4 cents per day. It now only takes an average of -22.0 cents per day to close the "Gap". The heavy-lifting work on the "Gap" closing may now be behind us.

The 6-day moving average carcass weight was up a little again yesterday to 210.99#. That's +1.40# year/year. Both packer and non-packer hogs were a little heavier but it was the non-packer hogs that contributed the most to the increase in carcass weights.

Still short the VVVs and ZZZs and still talking hogs much better than I trade them.

Best wishes,
