The final Purchase Index for - - -

10/10/14 was up +$0.10 and the model projects that the CME Index component on the 10/10/14 kill will creep up between 0.05 and +0.35. A collapse in the index in from of the VVVs going to cash settlement does not seem to be in the tea leaves this month.

The mild strength in packers' bids really brought in the index hogs on Friday. They were able to purchase over a half-million head. Usually the daily purchases run in the 450K range. Producers were willing to sell and packers were bidding a little bit more.

I'm still flat the VVVs but would rather be long than short.

Best wishes,
