The CME Lean Hog Index component on the kill for -

8/11/17 was down -0.48 to 84.57 . That has cut the "Gap" for the QQQs to -0.14 but the VVVs are at a very big discount of -15.59 to the component.

The ssix-day moving average carcass weight firmed to 207.35#. That is a paltry -0.16# year over year. Producers may not be quite a current in their shipments as they had been.
Both packer hogs and non-packer hogs were about 1/4# heavier. Packer hogs are still coming to market a bit lighter at -0.71#. Index hogs are now a bit lighter at 206.96# suggesting that producers of index hogs are getting current in their shipments. If I were a producer, I would try to be very current shipping hogs now.

Demand for the spreads on my boat have been unusually strong this morning. My inventory of calendar spreads is now down to 33. I like to keep something like 60 on my boat so my boat is really riding high in the water now. Floating around with nothing on does not provide much of a profit potential. I did buy some VVVs this morning thinking that the "Gap" will be partially closed by the VVVS moving up a little.

Best wishes,
