The final Purchase Index for - - -

9/30/14 was up +0.06 and the model projects that the component on the 9-30-14 kill will move up between +0.15 and +0.45. Packers have a fair sized inventory of hogs purchased at higher prices that will most likely keep the component firm for today.

The weakness in the VVVs has increased their discount to the component to 1.86.

The 6-day moving average carcass weight slipped yesterday and the kill so far this week is running 8.63% below the same week last year. Cut outs are holding up well so packers may be willing to pay for hogs until we see the kill rate begin to show increased numbers.

For all I know, that could be today.

Best wishes,
