The CME Lean Hog Index component on the kill for -

11/2/16 was down -0.35 to 51.26. The ZZZs are trading discount to the component by -4.41. If packers decide to close that "Gap" they can close a "Gap" that size in a hurry.

The six-day moving average carcass weight moved up to 211.97#. That is-1.42# yr/yr. It was the packer hogs that were heavier. They tacked on nearly a half-poound. On a 6-day moving average, that is quite a jump. Packer hogs are now+2.94# heavier than the non-packer hogs. I can't understand why packers are adding weight to their hogs unless they just can't get everything killed.

So far this week the kill is running 3.24% over the same period last year. This comes on top of the kill for the previous four weeks having been up +4.93% year/year. A few days ago I wondered if hogs were being pulled forward - as the weights go up that idea seems to go out the window. My friends, producers may be well endowed with hogs.

And they HAVE to come to market. They cannot be warehoused until next June to meet the decreased summer supply!!

This morning I sold another ZZZ pig and have scalped in and out of a few others.

Best wishes,
