The CME component on the kill for - - -

8/17/16 was up 0.13 to 67.40. That puts the VVVVs discounted to the component by -6.79. I suppose that is not an un-reasonable "Gap" in view of the fact that hogs almost always drop in price as the larger fall kill starts to take place.

The six-day moving average carcass weight was nearly steady at 207.04#. That is -2.19# year/year. Producers are staying very current in their shipments. Packer hogs were +0.24# heavier than non-packer hogs and index hogs were still lighter at 206.72#.

I have been able to scalp the VVVs enough this morning to pay the rent but the spreads are not moving for me.

Best wishes,
