that packers have 151K fewer hogs scheduled today than they had on this date last week and 81K fewer than on this date last year. This may be confirming the idea that the hole created by piglet losses last winter is continuing to show up in the kill rate.

Most likely packers are going to be keeping their bids firm today as they compete with each other to see who gets to kill the hogs.
