7/5/16 was down -0.56 to 82.96. That is 1.34 higher than the NNNs were trading at the close today. Traders are still expecting packers to take a little more off their bids.

The 6-day moving average carcass weight dipped to 209.14#. That is -1.90# yr/yr. Packer hogs came in a bit lighter but non-packer hogs were nearly unchanged. It appears that packer are hurrying a lot of their hogs to market - perhaps wanting to beat the fall price decline. Index hogs were lighter at 207.87#.

This post is late today because I had my annual physical exam. I'm well into my 80s and have blood pressure like a teenager. Don't take any medicines or drugs and I keep my weight down to the same level that I carried in high school more than 65 years ago.

Spreads were active today and that was a good thing for me.
