The CME Lean Hog Index component on the kill for -

3/29/16 kill was up +0.42 to 65.42. That was right in the middle of the model's projection. I continue to be impressed with the effectiveness with which the model projects the changes to the index. It is a mighty handy trading tool for me!

The 6-day moving average carcass weight moved up to 214.02#. That is - 0.40# year over year. Packer hogs are running +2.41# over non-packer hogs and the Index hogs are down at 212.44#. Packers may be a little behind in their shipments. The percentage of hogs being killed has had a few more packer hogs the past few days.

Yes, indeed, ITZ, trading spreads is like watching paint dry. For more than forty years I was a practicing orthodontist. Patients would come in and I would say to myself, "Now I think I will twist this wire or start these rubber bands and see how thing look in a month."

Having worked that long in one of the tinkering professions taught me a lot about having patience.

Ka! Ching!! Had to make a quick trip to the bank to deposit the profits from a long Q/V spread that I just sold.

And now I am waiting to see if we are going to get that couple or three point drop in the JJJs to get them down to march in lock step with the component.

Best wishes,
