The expected short squeeze in hogs, over 82 on the June 2016 contract, has come about. The charts below is what a short squeez, piled onto by momentum traders, looks like (See also: http://www.barchart.com/charts/futures/HEM16 ). These moves rarely hold up longer term. Look for a good entry for a short position as volumes taper. This move will likely be short lived. If heavy buying volumes come into this market, look for a puke point. Trend and momentum traders will likely be trying to chop at the high point, and may have enough strength to make a short position scary. If you can weather the stress, it is likely to turn around in you favor. Limit risk by limiting size because right now, this is not a "bet the farm" trade but a chance to take a nice chop out of the market.
So far, this move has taken a bite out of me! I just sold some more MMM's and have orders in to sell more! I am not bullish or bearish but would like to be back in the trading range!
