Good Morning, Spike. I never try to leg into -

a hog spread trade. The liquidity in hogs spreads is great enough to enable me to easily get in and out. I study the historical/seasonal tendency for the spreads to move and rely quite a on that. Once I decide on an entry point, I will scale in and out as the market moves. Sometimes I will ride a spread for several months waiting for it to meet my profit objective.

I like to trade the K/M from the long side and will start scaling in around -3.5. I also like the Q/V from the long side and started scaling in at 10.00. My profit objective keeps being hit so I have not been able to load my boat with many of them. I prefer the J/K from the short side.

My performance has significantly improved as I have become more of a spread trader. I currently have about 75 spread orders working. So far today I have had three fills. It is important for me to keep plenty of reserve because sometimes the market moves against me and I have to ride quite a draw down.

It looks like your short G/J is treating you well.

Good luck on your spreads and thanks for sharing your pitchforks.

Best wishes,

Doc
