Oct 8 feeders closed @ 187.87. Just before trading ended, I checked the after close trades and noticed Oct feeders had gone as high as 189.45.
Last couple years I had seen this before with feeders. First time I thought - wow - wished I'd sold at the close and caught that move. Didn't think anymore about. Second time I saw it happen I made a mental note and next day I went short @ a good entry and the market hit close to that prior day low at the end of regular trade.
When I saw that 189.45 high yesterday, I bought a feeder today @ 187.60 with a sell set at 189.30. Half hour before the end of regular trade I was up to 188.00 and almost talked myself into cutting it loose. Luckily someone came in the office and next thing I knew the market handed me my 189.30 and just squeaked by that hitting 189.42.
These don't happen often enough, but I'll continue to check those after close moves everyday.
