9/14/15 was down -0.53 to 71.09. The strength of the VVVs has now closed the "Gap" to -1.96. When the front month becomes short-term, the hog pricing model becomes a better trading tool but we are not quite there yet. For now the downtrend in the index is continuing.

The 6-day moving average carcass weight dipped to 209.87#. It appears that the bump-up we got yesterday was caused by the no-kill last Monday and hogs got heavier from the one-day back-up. Packer hogs continue to be heavier than non-packer hogs. In fact, they were exactly 5.0# heavier on the last 5-day moving average weights.
