The CME component on the kill for - - -

8/21/12 was right where the model projected at 78.81 down -0.18. The "Gap" has now closed to -14.31 mostly from a surge in the VVVs. Packers had quite a good kill-week last week at 2.226 million. That was +11.19% yr/yr.

The six-day moving average carcass weight firmed to 209.43#. That's -3.44# yr/yr. Both packer and non-packer hogs were heavier but the non-packer hogs were up more. The percentage of the kill that was packer hogs was stronger than usual which is what we have often seen this spring/summer.

And while Dewey and ITZ are rolling in the dough, I am struggling just to keep from going broke with paying utilities and all. Did pull off one little scalp and sold a long Z/G spread that put a little money in the bank.

Best wishes,

dhm
