The CME component on the kill for - - -

8/4/15 was up +0.18 to 79.04. With the weakness in the QQQs this morning we have very little "Gap". In my mind the big question is, "Will the Labor Day demand be strong enough and last long enough to hold the Index above 79 until expiry?"

My bias is that it will but I tell you this, I am NOT betting the farm on it!!

At this point I have one, measly long QQQ that I bought too early this morning. I bought another lower down this morning and it is now M.I.F. (That's short for Money In Fist.)

The six-day moving average carcass weight was down again this morning to 209.61#. That is -3.87# yr/yr. Compared to 2013, though, it is +6.58#. Both packer and non-packer hogs were lighter to about the same extent.

Packers were NOT killing an excessively large number of their own hogs yesterday.

If the article Farmer Ed referred us to is on target, China is likely to scoff up all the pork they can get from us and be begging for more.

Best wishes,
