The final Purchase Index for - - -

6/15/15 was down -$0.82 and the model projects that the component on the 6-15-15 kill will ease between -0.30 and -0.60. Packers made a very solid purchase yesterday at 108.1% of the moving average daily purchases. The six-day moving average carcass weight had moved up a little last week. Perhaps producers had been dragging their feet a little in their shipments and yesterday they may have capitulated and decided they better get more current in their shipments. At any rate, they seem to have been willing sellers at the lower bids that packers were throwing at them.

Packer hogs continue to run about 2.5# heavier than non-packer hogs. Last year packer hogs were lighter. Often this time of the year carcass weights decline as hot weather sets in. It hasn't happened much this year.

Ka! Ching!! Ka! Ching!! I just off-loaded two Q/V spreads. My boat is riding high in the water. I need to get back to port and see if I can load 'er up a little now. If someone needs a few Q/V spreads, I still have a few to peddle.

Best wishes,
