The swine scheduled for delivery report - - -

shows that packers have 15.33% more hogs lined up than they had on this date one-year ago. They also have 245K more hogs scheduled than they had on this date last week. Those are strong numbers.

From the noon reports the model projects that the Purchase Index for today will be up +$0.29. I find it interesting that packers are bidding higher with already high numbers scheduled but they know much better than I what it takes to bring in the hogs. It continues to appear that the CME Lean Hog Index is now starting its spring rise. I need to review the historical increase in the index from this date to cash settlement of the MMMs. It continues to strike me that the 16.44 "Gap" is quite a mountain to climb that may end up with the MMMs coughing up a little.

I'm still trying to buy a pair of JJJs at 61.90 but "The Market" is not co-operating.

Best wishes,

dhm
