I suppose you read the Daily Livestock Report yesterday and their analysis of the kill capacity this fall. Their conclusion is that we will not have a re-run of 1998 but they recognize that remains a possibility. They seem to be looking at the June to August farrowings as an indicator for lower hog numbers by fall. The H&P report projects 2.1% sows farrowing this year than last but the pigs per litter seems to be on the rise. If we get 10.39 pigs per litter, we still end up with a 30.4 million pig crop and that will not be down any from last year.

Demand seems to be weak based on the report today.
