the urge to start building longer term hedges yet. Friday I had producers take profits on their load of 7.50 Dec shorts. It could still go another 10 cents lower to start the week but the corn market has screwed me too many times the last eight months waiting for that extra 10 cents. We should see another 1.00-1.20 rally for weather market season going into late June before I have anything suggesting to start looking for the top of the mountain. Mother Nature always finds a way to destroy some of the crop during weather market season.
This year the market over does a small loss of bushels and acts like the small loss will turn into a big loss of bushels. When there is a big loss the street criers start screaming "We are gonna run out of corn!" That won't ever happen but it makes an exciting story for the Bull Camp. One more strong rally should be the time to start getting serious about hedges but don't forget about cash sales, that's more important than the hedges.
