3/27/15 was only down -0.22 to 60.29. The JJJs are now premium to the component by +0.74. This implies that traders think we are putting in a bottom. Maybe yes and maybe no! I will just have to wait for time to unravel that mystery.
The six-day moving average carcass weight was up just a slivver at 214.37#. That is down by -0.60 from the same date last year -
However -
It is +6.40# heavier than the same date in 2013. Just that weight gain adds 3.1% to the amount of pork produced. That is not insignificant.
It was mostly packer hogs that were heavier. Today packer hogs are 7.11# heavier than they were on this date in 2013. Packers are really sending heavy hogs to market.
