goes a long way toward explaining why the hog cycle has been somewhat subdued over the past fifteen years or so. It seems to have taken the PED virus and a dock strike to have wakened it up a little.

Perhaps it is especially the packers' production facilities that follow the "Factory Model". They account for about 33% of the hogs killed any more.
